Catch A Contractor

Welcome to catch a contractor! We are going to use this site to help customers and subcontractors find the elusive contractors that seem to be hard for them to reach.

The first contractor we are going to highlight is Stephen Burch of Mineral Wells Texas!

Whenever we highlight a new contractor, we will be nominating them for the rather prestigious “Burch Award”, ok it really isn’t prestigious, or even an actual award, and we doubt we can reach Stephen to have a red carpet installed, but still that’s what we’re calling it.

Ok let’s start with our first nominee for the Burch award, none other than Stephen Burch himself! And please, we ask that you hold all applause until after acceptance speeches are complete.

So who is Stephen Burch? Well first of all he is the wind beneath the wings of this here site, the inspiration and muse if you will. He is a local of Mineral Wells Texas, and advertises himself a contractor. But who is he?

Now we have been told that some people have seen Stephen with their own eyes. I will admit we even had our own sighting. But why is it so difficult for many of his customers and subcontractors to find him? Is he just a story older homeowners tell new homeowners to warn them about contractors? Some swear he will come out of hiding if you leave some coins on your front porch, others swear they have spotted him around Palo Pinto Co. So again I ask, why is he so difficult for some to find? Could he just be an elusive, urban legend style cryptid like the Lake Worth legend of the goat man?

There seems to be a lot of stories about Stephen, some we have been able to verify, and some we haven’t. We’ll stick to what we know, and question the rest with you. Now we fully admit that we here at catch a contractor have never studied cryptozoology, but we also don’t know where the heck you even go to study to be a cryptozoologist, so we’re just going to claim to be experts in the field, and you can pretend along with us.

Anyway, I said to myself, self, what would Scoob and the gang do when they were looking for a “monster” that is causing issues in a community? I answered, they would grab a snack, do their best to investigate the mystery and unmask the guy! So even though we don’t have a really cool talking great dane side kick, or an actual degree in cryptozoology, we’re going to try to solve this mystery! Maybe we can answer the questions, who is Stephen Burch? Why are many looking for him? And is he hiding in plain sight behind a mask?

We are told the following picture is Burch. Now don’t be confused by the grey hair, red shirt and “belly that shook when he laughed like a bowl full of jelly”, we can confirm this is not Santa Claus. We reached out to Santa’s people, and they tell us that currently Santa is too busy getting ready for Christmas to give us a comment. And yes it is closer than you think parents! Anyway we would like to thank Santa’s people for getting back with us, and can we just say, we like your nose! Don’t worry about what those other reindeer say!

Not to toot our own horn, but we, and by “we” I mean me and the staff that I wish I had…anyway, we at catch a contractor have seen what happens when you assume every guy with white hair, in red clothes and a beard is Santa. We knew this wasn’t Jolly Ole Nick, but we wanted to make sure we confirmed it for our readers. We’re definitely smarter than the average Who down in Whoville!

Side note, Santa we just wanted to personally extend our gratitude for all you do, we understand why you have to be so elusive, and in diamonds we wear a size 5 carat, in case you didn’t have that on your list.

Back to Stephen, we can’t help but feel this whole situation is just..

Stink!

Stank!

Stunk!

So our quest to uncover who Stephen Burch is, continues. Let’s pull back more of the greasy black peel..

The next picture we have reminded us of a famous cryptid video. Another mysterious figure that many claim to have seen, but also, no one can seem to find when they’re actually looking for them. I’m referring to BigFoot and the famous Patterson-Gimlin film. The grainy, blurry kinda of quality, the attempt to avoid the camera. We immediately knew this wasn’t Sasquatch though. We don’t believe Burch could throw a fully grown tree at unsuspecting campers while he swipes their Jack Link’s jerky. By far the favorite jerky of catch a contractor, the rich smokey flavor, and tender choice cuts of meat just melt in your mouth. And it’s a healthy snack alternative! Jack have your people reach my people..err me. Can we all say endorsement deal?? Also I want to clarify that no unsuspecting campers have come forward making the claim that they had any issues with Stephen, or flying trees.

.

While we’re on the subject, can we just ask that Sasquatch and his publicist please stop reaching out to us. Again, we knew this wasn’t you. I mean we assume Burch, like many of us, has eaten his fair share of Jack Link’s jerky, delicious whether you choose peppered, sweet & hot, or that all time favorite, original, (Jack, you and me, let’s do lunch!) but that does not make him a BigFoot. So Mr. BigFoot, in the words of Carly Simon, you’re so vain, you probably think this site is about you, don’t you? Sheesh, not every search for the elusive revolves around you Biggy.

So what do we know about Stephen Burch? We know he has had several companies, SRB Home Services LLC in Mansfield Texas, you can find the reviews left by customers that seem to be not exactly thrilled. Next he had “4 Any Construction” in Weatherford Texas, and it seems again, he has a list of unhappy customers. There was also an article about Stephen Burch in the Weatherford Democrat when he was using the “4 Any Construction” name, where a customer accuses him of fraud. Now I’m not an expert in FBI type profiling, I’m barely a newly (self) acclaimed expert in cryptozoology, but I’m pretty good at noticing patterns, and I’m beginning to see one here. Am I right? Anyway, let’s keep going, currently Stephen has Stalworth Construction and that LLC was filed in October of 2017. I bet you see what’s coming next. If you guessed that there is several people including a growing Facebook group (Stop Stephen Burch and Stalworth Construction) with customers, former employees and subcontractors, and also a blog from one of Stalworth Construction’s customers detailing their experience with Stalworth, that are looking for answers from Stephen in the hopes of finally resolving issues with him, well it would be an oddly specific, and long winded guess, but also a 100% accurate one. Good thing I used “bet” in that really vague way we have of speaking, and not an actual and literal bet where you would win something, because I can’t begin to imagine the amount of debt I would have incurred from how many of you that guessed correctly. Also, we do not engage in any type of illegal gambling here at catch a contractor.

Another thing I question, why start a construction company, spend time, and energy to build that business and name, only to shut that company down, move to another nearby town and start all over again? and not just once. When most companies change their name, don’t they normally put the word out so they don’t lose their established customer base? The newest addition to the growing list of companies is Comet Painters. I could be wrong, but this doesn’t seem like a good business plan, does it?

Maybe Stephen isn’t some elusive cryptid, or a campfire story that older homeowners tell new homeowners to scare them, while teaching them some life lesson. Maybe this is the part where Scoob and the Gang would set an elaborate trap, unmask the villain and show everyone it’s just a guy. I would try the ole box and stick trap, baited with a large bag of irresistible jalapeno flavored Jack Link’s beef jerky (see Jack, I know how to do product placement!) but I don’t have an Acme box, and I remember how that always ended for Wylie Coyote, Super Genius. Now I’m not only showing my age (I’d give a shout out to all my fellow Gen Xers, but let’s be honest, they’re too busy to care) but I’m showing how many Saturday mornings were wasted away as I sat with a bowl of cereal, in front of the T.V, guarding the dial aka pliers (ask your parents if you don’t understand) so my brothers, or even worse, my sister, didn’t try to change the channel. Well we went way off track, however I never claimed to be an engineer either, so who left me in charge of this train anyway?

Now I know we used some humor to grab your attention, and hopefully got you to continue reading, but this is where the humor must stop. We noticed another very troubling pattern after speaking to many, many unhappy customers of Stephen’s, something utterly heartbreaking. There was one thing almost every single one that I spoke to, said to me. Some variation of “I thought he was a good Christian, and I could trust him”. Now they’re left wondering how to resolve their issues with Stephen. Is “Christianity” the mask that Stephen wears to sell himself to potential customers? Now do not take this as an attack on Christianity, or any church. In fact it is the opposite, we want to warn people in all of our churches, and every member of our community, to be aware of what is happening. Please do your due diligence before hiring any contractor, or referring any contractor to your friends and neighbors. We don’t want another single person to find themselves in a situation like many of Stalworth’s customers find themselves today. We understand that we should love the sinner, while we hate the sin. That doesn’t mean we simply turn a blind eye to people being hurt, by a fellow sinner that we happen to love. And let me first completely admit, that I too, am a sinner, and even though I try, I will fail and sin again. All I, or any of us can do is ask forgiveness, do our best to not do it again, AND we have to do what we can to make it right! That last part is what many are asking of Stephen, be accountable and make it right!

Unfortunately as it stands now, we still don’t have all the answers, but we are still going to continue asking the questions.

It’s time we see if it is a mask, and if so, we pull it off, so everyone can see the truth of the matter. Stephen, I have be given permission to personally invite you into Stop Stephen Burch and Stalworth Construction public Facebook group. This is your chance to speak with customers, subcontractors and employees from Stalworth Construction that want these issues resolved, and show your community, neighbors, and church exactly who you are. You will be given the chance to tell your side of the story.

Unrelated but, can we just take a moment to be thankful for the rain we have gotten recently? Whew this has been one hot Texas summer. Sometimes I think God gives us Texas summers to remind us that hell is no place to spend eternity.

Anyway, let’s get back to the point of all of this. If you are a homeowner or subcontractor that needs help with an unresolved issue with Stephen Burch owner of Stalworth Construction, please let us know. We will do whatever we can to help you. We will soon be adding a contact form to reach out to us, you can also find help in the Stop Stephen Burch and Stalworth Construction groups on facebook, and another friend of catch a contractor has a number that you can reach out to as well. From what I understand it will have a voicemail set up, where you can leave your contact info if you need help, you can also leave a message if you want to share information, or maybe you just want to call and leave them a thank you! That number is, 386-406-3111, and yes it isn’t a local area code, but that is the correct number for info or tips concerning Stephen Burch.
